I'd take Aether over convolution though, no modulation= static. group buy or not.Īnybody human wrote:Can only imagine the Lexicon plugs are ridiculous. No major scandal, but I still thought it was a pretty shrift move. now that 1.5 is out I'm keen to see if he'll revisit 1.0.1

He said it's possible, the only inhibiting factor was time and his focus on 1.5. I do however think it's only right that the 1.0.1 release is 10.4 compatible. And I have no issue with 1.5 being 10.5 or 10.6 only. Not to say 1.0 was a nightmare or anything. There were no overt promises either way, but the point remains - he supported 10.4 long enough to create a large userbase.then left 10.4 users high & dry with the subsequent bugfix/update. What don't you understand ? You had no problems ergo there was no bugs ? He didn't release 1.0.1 for shits N giggles.Īs for 10.4 not being officially supported, that's pretty weak. Also, 10.4 was never officially supported as far as I know.

LEXICON PCM VS 2CAUDIO AETHER UPGRADE

This was a fairly major upgrade with new features, hence "1.5". Kinda lame considering a large user base was built off the back of a group buy for version 1.0.0īugfix? The previous version was pretty stable. Kool reverb, but how the hell do you go from supporting 10.4 with version 1.0, to dropping it with the very first bugfix ?

I hope once the dust settles on 1.5 that 2caudio will have the common courtesy to make the 1.0.1 bugfix 10.4 compatible. Glitchrock-buddha wrote:Speaking of Aether.

  • Variable Q Damping Decay are you LOVING this new update like me ?.
  • Here's a quick summary of what makes Aether 1.5.0 so special:

Most reasonable companies would make this a 2.0 version and make it paid update, but we promised a while ago to make this a free update and we are honoring that promise. Aether 1.5 represents a very significant update and offers a huge number of industry-first advances in terms of audio quality and functionality. This project has been a very ambitious and intense development cycle and today we are finally able to share the fruits of our labor with you. Stuff like Steven Slate Drums and other most other drums such as Superior/EZD, DFHS, Addictive etc give you options to turn off room mics and distant micing but a lot of people forget that and start adding a lot of additional reverbs on which can conflict and cause phase and equalization problems, often easily solved by turning OFF the room mics etc which usually yields a very dry sample (sometimes overheads can still be an issue). I'm quite lucky to have a pretty dead sounding room and I almost always DI bass to at least have that dead dry (low frequencies are typically the worst in a room unless it has significant acoustic treatment, so micing up bass cabs can be problematic). The other way around, or sometimes if you start mixing up too many types of reverb, such as putting a plate and a hall together with instruments that already have the 'room' reverb from where you recorded, you have to be careful. has a longer decay and more early reflections etc than the room you recorded in. Usually it's not so much of an issue if the reverb you're adding is to add depth/space, i.e. The natural room situation also applies to Aether and Lexicon and all reverb types, algorithmic or convolution.

IMHO, vocals should always have a really subtle mod effect (light chorus or small tape slap delay typically, but phase/flange can also be appropriate in some cases). The main thing for me is, if the sound already has some type of modulation, even a very light ADT/Chorus type effect, going into a static Impulse, the end result is still not static and has some subtle and pleasing movement about it.
